As most of you know, I have a carputer system in my car. Anyway, I finished building one of the major rear seat components which houses the actual computer system and speaker crossovers. Anyway...here's some pics of the build...I finished this a little while ago and some of you have seen it but I finally got around to uploading some pics.

lol, actually the roles are reversed. I was just throwing the former post for amusement. Kyle would be better at explaining it than I, but I'll try my best. Basically it's a PC that's integrated into the car so that you have the same abilities of using your computer inside a car as you do inside your home. I've seen a tremendous amount of features that can come with this as I live with Kyle and get to see the system being put to use. Since it's his system, I'll let him explain in detail than to take his moment of glory. |

haha, so this is what it can do...
It is capable of...
- GPS real time navigation with voice guidance
- Music/Video/Picture Library with visualizations and easy playlist creation
- Real Time Traffic Updates
- Weather Updates
- Internet Access
- Bluetooth phone connection which allows you to browse through your phone book and place/recieve calls through the computer and not the phone (hands free operation)
- DVD/CD player
- XM/FM radio capable
- Calculator/Calander and other organization functions
- OBD2 Engine Diagnostics and real time sensor readings
- Reverse Camera
well that's all I can recall at the top of my head. But all of this is controlled through a very user friendly touchscreen interface. You also can use windows XP like normal too. |

| haha, this is old...but it's running windows XP, I think an AMD Athlon 64 3400+, 1GB ram, nVidia 256mb 6600GT, and Cetrafuse software which is all connected to a 9" touchscreen molded into the dash. |

That is pretty sweet. I installed a carputer in my old integra for a while and it was just a nice small white rectangular box sitting in a glove box with the back cut out hahaha.
Back in the day these were really worth it considering you could get to play all your mp3s/ have a gps system (without monthly fee of course) / plug in your games and whatever.
Check out mp3car forums for more info that's where I picked up my first. But technically you can use a power inverter and just throw your huge desktop in the back hahaha. Then you just need a touch screen..
Anyway... blabble blabble blabble..
I like it, fabrication specialist haha. |
